- Choosing the right active ingredients: first of all, you need to know your skin type so that you can choose the right ingredients for your needs. Preferably choose organic or natural active ingredients.
- Prepare small quantities: home-made cosmetics, based on natural products, generally have a shorter shelf life than conventional products. Therefore, prepare small quantities (which is also more hygienic) and always keep them in the refrigerator. If you notice a change in colour, texture or smell after a certain amount of time, discard the product. To sort and distinguish your cosmetics, label them carefully with their name and date of manufacture.
- Use stainless steel utensils for blending and always keep your homemade cosmetics in very clean glass bottles, amber-coloured, if possible, to protect them from light.
- Do a test: before using the cosmetic product, you have just created, on your face or body, it is always advisable to test it on a small part of your body (inside the arm for example). Then wait for one or a few hours to see the possible reactions. Do not mix the ingredients anyhow as certain combinations can create undesirable skin reactions.
